Two busy days in the life of the Senate Standing Committee on Energy and the Environment (SCEENR) last week as we continue our in depth study of a Canadian Energy Strategy and related issues like climate change.
We travelled to the AECL/Cameco/Transalta nuclear fuel processing and isotope production plant facility and the Ontario Power Group Darlington nuclear power plant on Thursday and the Bruce Power plant on Friday.
We started on the bus Thursday morning at 6:30 and got to the hotel at 11:00 PM. Friday, we started on the bus at 6:30 AM and I was dropped at the Toronto airport at about 7:00 PM for flight to Edmonton which arrived about 12:30 AM "my time."
The days were filled with tours of facilities, intense meetings and committee members asking many questions.
No conclusions yet but the issues discussed were nuclear safety vs climate change danger.
