Senator Yoine Goldstein retired yesterday from the Senate as he has now turned 75.
He has served for a little less than four years, but in that short time he has done some great work. He has developed a bill to allow students to declare bankruptcy if they cannot pay off their student loans and a bill to facilitate the export of generic drugs to the developing world. Senator Goldstein has a deep knowledge of law and he demonstrates the great contribution that a fine lawyer can make to the parliamentary process.
And he has always acted as a vigilant protector of human rights.
He will be sorely missed.
