Today I am writing on the subject of Normee Ekoomiak and the legacy that he is leaving the Inuit community. Normee struggled with addictions, and lived at the Mission in Ottawa. He faced many hardships because of his health and his separation from the north.
I knew Normee when we were young, and I keep many fond memories in my heart about Normee and his brother. As Inuk we are very sad to see the struggles of our people, and Normee had many challenges.
If you never met Normee, you will be amazed by the beauty of his art, and the strength of his spirit.
