Joyce Fairbairn

The Hon. Joyce Fairbairn, P.C., B.A., B.J. Beginning her career as a journalist, Senator Joyce Fairbairn was appointed to the Senate June 29, 1984, by the late former Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. She represents the province of Alberta and the Senatorial Division of Lethbridge.

Hon. Maria Chaput:

Honourable senators, my question is for the Leader of the Government in the Senate and it is regarding relief for families.

Canada's corporate tax rate is 25 per cent below the corporate tax rate paid by corporations in the United States. It is now time to provide relief for families. Why does this government understand the needs of corporations but fails to understand the needs of families?
