Statement made on 01 March 2011 by Senator James Cowan
Hon. James S. Cowan (Leader of the Opposition):
When I discussed the situation in Egypt several weeks ago with Senator LeBreton, I asked her a question and referred her to a report prepared by our Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence. The report recommended that the government undertake a study of the experience in Lebanon and that the government make that study public.
At that time, understandably, the leader did not have that information at her fingertips. Has the leader been able to ascertain, first, whether the government undertook the study recommended by the committee? Second, if it did, when will that report be made public? If the government did not undertake the study, why not?
