Meet Senator

Joyce Fairbairn

The Hon. Joyce Fairbairn, P.C., B.A., B.J. Beginning her career as a journalist, Senator Joyce Fairbairn was appointed to the Senate June 29, 1984, by the late former Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. She represents the province of Alberta and the Senatorial Division of Lethbridge.

Hon. Dennis Dawson:

Honourable senators, my question is for the Leader of the Government in the Senate. At a press conference yesterday, the premiers of Quebec and Ontario expressed their formal and unequivocal support for the Quebec City-Windsor high-speed rail corridor. This project is supported not only by the two provinces but also by a number of municipalities, including Quebec City, and certainly by several new senators.

My question is this: what is the federal government's position on this project?
