Statement made on 24 March 2009 by Senator Yoine Goldstein (retired)

Hon. Yoine Goldstein:

Is the honourable minister aware of the fact that the rules were changed some time ago and that there is only one adjudicator who carries a power of life and death with respect to each refugee? Is the honourable minister aware that I introduced in this chamber a bill to establish an appeal tribunal so that abuses and problems resulting from this kind of single-person-adjudicator technique can be corrected, and is she aware that her government opposed that bill?
