Statement made on 11 December 2009 by Senator Sharon Carstairs (retired)
Hon. Sharon Carstairs:
Honourable senators, my question is directed to the Leader of the Government in the Senate. We have a national strategy on diabetes. We have another on HIV/AIDS. We have another on cancer. All good strategies. Indeed, according to my research, there are 13 such strategies. The glaring omission is a strategy on palliative end-of-life care, which will, at some stage, have an impact on every single Canadian. Why is this government unwilling to develop such a strategy?
