Liberal Senator James S. Cowan, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, expressed his disappointment following the final passage of the Harper government’s bill to scrap the gun registry, saying: ‘’This will not make Canadians and their families safer.’’

Attached are photos, provided by a group of students and graduates from the École Polytechnique in Montreal, of weapons that, as of today, may be owned by Canadians without the knowledge of police authorities.  With the abolition of the long-gun registry, the police will no longer have the ability or the right to know who owns such weapons or where they are located in our communities.
