Spouses of veterans who died without making application for benefits from Veterans Affairs Canada are being denied housekeeping and grounds maintenance assistance from Veterans Affairs Canada.
These spouses were caregivers for many, many years and now that they need assistance it is being denied them while their sisters of Veterans who have died are receiving half pensions and the VIP for life.
An Allied Veteran had to enter a Long Term Care Facility in May of 2003 a few months before financial assistance was provided to Allied Veterans in Long Term Care Facilities in November of 2003. His spouse, who is his Power of Attorney, continues to be informed that her husband does not qualify for this assistance. Are we trying to nickel and dime these soldiers that put their lives in harm's way for us?
Yours in Comradeship
